Zhuhai, Nov. 6, 2018 – China Aviation Supplies Co., LTD (CASC) signed a MOU with Safran Nacelles on A320neo nacelle pool cooperation during the 12th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) in Zhuhai. Yang Xiaoming, the president & CEO of CAS and the board chairman of CASC, and Mr. Cédric Goubet, the CEO of Safran Nacelles, attended the signature ceremony.
Under the MOU, both parties intend to cooperate on the nacelles support on A320neo LEAP-1A and C919 LEAP-1C, including constructing an A320neo nacelle pooling and discussing a solution to support C919.
Safran Nacelles has the complete responsibility for the design and integration of nacelles on the A320neo powered by LEAP-1A engines. It has delivered 600 LEAP-1A nacelle systems since A320neo launched into market in August 2016. Nexcelle is a joint venture owned 50/50 by Safran Nacelles & ST Engineering’s Middle River Aerostructure Systems, providing nacelle systems to equip the COMAC C919 powered by two CFM International LEAP-1C engines. This nacelle system is composed of a single O-shaped composite part (O-Duct), replacing the configuration of two D-shaped doors. Thus, it improves the aircraft’s aerodynamic performance and fuel consumption, while increases the efficiency of the thrust reverser.
CASC and Safran Nacelles will make a full use of their respective resource and production advantages to work closely on the support solution, nacelle pooling construction, and production customization. Through pattern innovation, they will provide more economical, efficient and convenient nacelle system support services for aircraft customers. This cooperation will further promote the integration of resources and advantages in the industry, reduce costs and increase efficiency.
